The book was David Pawson's Unlocking the Bible. I started reading on the way home, but as usual, life got in the way and the book ended up on one of our many bookshelves. About a year later, our church announced that they would be starting a new course called Unlocking the Bible and we could join the study every Wednesday evening at our prayer room. They would be showing the videos that David Pawson made about each one of the Bible books. I took out my copy of the book, dusted it off and started attending the video screenings. What an amazing man! The Lord took him and his circumstances and lead him to study the Bible in such a way that literally unlocked the Bible.
To add to the above I have to explain that in my 40 odd years, I have attempted to read the complete Bible within a year many times, but to my great frustration have failed many times. 2014 has not been excluded in these attempts, but this year, I might not fail as dismally as previous years. This is mostly due to the fact that my dear friend S. with whom I walk every morning is also a great reading friend and we compare notes about our Bible reading progress. Her husband is a minister and the fact that we have a walking, talking source of reference helps a lot.
Back to David Pawson.
On his website, www.davidpawson.org you can watch the videos or listen to the mp3's.
The other great thing about the book is that you don't have to read the book from the first to the last page.
You simply read a book in the Bible, for example Job, page to the chapter in Mr. Pawson's book about Job and voila! a brilliant method of study.
What are you waiting for! Go buy the book, watch the videos or listen to the mp3's!
